Verticality and Horizontality Monitoring of Mahakam Bridge Piers Post-Barge Collision Using Geodetic and Structural Instrumentation
This study evaluates the vertical and horizontal stability of Piers 2 and 3 of the Mahakam Bridge in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, a vital infrastructure subjected to heavy daily traffic loads. Monitoring was conducted using high-precision geodetic instruments, including Total Station, Geodetic GPS, Digital Level, and Tiltmeter, to accurately detect structural displacements. Data were collected over a 96-hour period and analyzed spatially using AutoCAD and ArcGIS. Results show that Pier 2 experienced lateral deflection ranging from 0.024% to 0.048%, while Pier 3 exhibited a maximum vertical deviation of 0.010% and horizontal shift up to 0.055%—within acceptable safety limits. The displacement patterns were linear and showed no abrupt angular changes. These findings confirm that the structure remains stable and safe for continued use, though periodic monitoring is recommended, especially during peak loads or after extreme weather events. This research provides a robust foundation for long-term bridge maintenance and technical decision-making.




Rigid Inclusion Numerical Simulation On Strengthening The IKN VVIP Airport Runway using LISA V.8 FEA
This research investigates the construction of the IKN VVIP Airport, a project aimed at enhancing connectivity to IKN for state leaders, in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 31 of 2023. The study addresses the technical planning and operational challenges of the airport, focusing on the complex soil conditions at the site. The soil investigation revealed the presence of soft soils, problematic stones or clays, and expansive, organic, and peaty soils, posing significant construction challenges. To meet the airport's operational timeline, a combination of soil improvement methods, including Rigid Inclusion, Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD), Prefabricated Horizontal Drain (PHD), and Deep Soil Mixing (DSM), was employed. The research utilized the finite element method (FEM) numerical analysis software LISA V.8 FEA to model the behavior of the settlement and stress in the existing soil, providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of foundation strengthening using the rigid inclusion method. This study fills a gap in the literature by offering practical insights into the application of soil improvement strategies for airport construction projects, particularly in challenging soil conditions. The finite element analyses revealed von Mises stress peaking at 866.9 kN/m² in the upper column sections, significantly below the allowable limits for 20 MPa and 35 MPa concrete, ensuring structural integrity. Displacement analysis showed 0.616.1 mm under 140 kN/m² load, with stress ranging from 67.04 to 866.9 kN/m², highlighting critical areas for design optimization and reinforcement to manage load distribution and material strengths.




Numerical modeling the effect of extreme temperatures on rooms with mortar foam walls using LISA V.8 FEA
Mortar foam materials are now widely used as backfill replacement materials and contribute quite well, the use of mortar foam materials contributes to small settlement and stresses on the original soil surface. Mortar foam contributes significantly to the bearing capacity where from the analysis of deformation as well as stresses, the foam mortar material gives a small deformation. The researchers in this study simulated the flow patterns of extreme temperatures that occur due to and influence in a room measuring 4000x4000 mm with a wall thickness of 200 mm with red brick material, hebel walls and the use of mortar foam, it is hoped that this research can contribute the latest knowledge about the effect of extreme temperatures in the room with these materials so that it becomes one of the alternative materials with the concept of green building. From the results of numerical analysis research with room modeling given extreme temperature on the outside of the room and normal temperature in the room by providing normal temperature exposure zoning due to air conditioner, it is obtained that the change in the impact of extreme temperature influence dominates the mortar foam wall material with a ratio of 1.000459 against brick wall material. However, in terms of heat flux magnitude, brick wall material dominates with a ratio of 24.896 compared to mortar foam wall material.
